Elle est constamment sous-estimée. Pendant ce temps les agents sont à la poursuite de 'Zodiac' mais n'arrivent pas à demander l'aide de Carter, elle est partie 3 mois sans mission.<br /> <br /> Une nuit, Flynn et les autres agents mâles sortent boire des verres, laissant Carter seule pour nettoyer le bureau quand le téléphone retentit. L'interlocuteur lui indique la position de 'Zodiac' et lui suggère d'emmener 3 à 5 agents avec elle.<br /> <br /> Au lieu de cela l'Agent Carter y va seule avec pour seule aide, une seule mallette. À la position donnée, elle attaque deux hommes de main jetant l'un des deux à travers une fenêtre .<br /> <br /> Elle menotte le troisième garde à un tuyau et lui dit de crier à l'aide. Lorsque deux autres gangsters arrivent, elle les prend en embuscade. Elle localise ensuite la pièce où est 'Zodiac'. Avant de rentrer elle lance une bombe de fumée pour neutraliser le dernier garde. Elle trouve ensuite un flacon marqué d'un étrange symbole qui est 'Zodiac'. <br /> <br /> Un dernier garde - le plus grand - affublé d'un masque à gaz apparaît. Les deux combattent jusqu'à ce que Carter semble battue. Quand, au dernier moment, elle glisse un couteau de sa mallette et le poignarde.<br /> <br /> De retour au bureau, l'Agent John Flynn réprimande Carter pour son insurbordination jusqu'à ce que son téléphone sonne. C'est [[Howard Stark (Terre-199999)|Howard Stark]] à l'autre bout du fil. Stark lui indique que Carter fut incroyable et indique à Flynn que Carter va diriger le S.H.I.E.L.D. avec Stark.<br /> <br /> Flynn informe Carter et lui indique &quot;qu'il est honoré de lui apprendre la nouvelle&quot;. <br /> Carter refuse l'offre de Flynn de l'aider à déménager ses affaires.<br /> <br /> Stark est assis au bord d'une piscine dans une robe de chambre que son fils Tony portera des années plus tard. À ses cotés, se trouve Dum Dum Dugan. Ils discutent des bikinis - Dugan demande si Stark les a inventé, ce dernier répond que non, c'était les Français.</div>
