Synopsis officiel
L'astrophysicienne Jane Foster, son patron Erik Selvig et Darcy Lewis, stagiaire, étudient une tempête survenue quelque part au Nouveau-Mexique. Le trio ne se doute pas qu'une partie de la mythologie scandinave est sur le point de lui tomber sur la tête. Jane, Erik et Darcy découvrent en effet, gisant inanimé sur le sol, le dieu Thor, fils d'Odin. Thor, exilé sur Terre apès avoir déclenché une guerre ancestrale le jour où son père devait lui léguer le trône d'Asgard, n'a qu'un seul but : mener une expédition punitive contre les géants de glace, qui ont tenté de reprendre le Coffre sacré, jadis volé par Odin. Pendant ce temps, à Asgard, Odin sombre dans le coma...
