Même si le retour du public était bon, elle fut dépassée par la série ''Pokémon'' et la nouvelle série ''Digimon''. Elle fut annulée après seulement quelques épisodes. ''Fox Kids'' diffusera plus tard (de 2000 à 2001) 13 nouveaux épisodes, le dernier finissant sur un cliffhanger. Plusieurs scénarii ont été écrit pour la saison 2, incluant la conclusion du cliffhanger, mais ils ne furent jamais produits.<br /> <br /> Initiallement, l'objectif était de faire une adaptation à bas coût des 26 premiers numéros du comics ''The Amazing Spider-Man'', mais ''Sony'' et ''Marvel'' ayant déjà conclu un accord, Saban se retrouva dans l'impossibilité d'utiliser le costume traditionel de Spider-Man ou d'adapter les premiers comics. C'est ainsi qu'une des idées originale était d'indiquer que Spider-Man était coincé dans une réalité alternative où Oncle Ben n'est jamais mort et donc Peter n'ayant pas la force mentale de résister devint Vénom.
